The Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM) is the independent professional body serving the gas industry. It aims to promote the highest standards of professional competence in the industry through the development of policy and standards in conjunction with a wide range of stakeholders. It also seeks to support the continuous personal and professional development of engineers and managers through a range of technical training workshops and conferences. As part of this continuous development Steelhenge, in partnership with IGEM, has developed a series of ‘Planning for a Gas Emergency’ workshops in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. The workshops look at how to manage the consequences of national and local gas supply emergencies and are aimed at supporting engineers and managers from industry and government.
