CM2000 engaged Steelhenge to support them in their preparation for certification to BS 25999-2. This was successfully achieved in December 2010.
CM2000 is a leading supplier of electronic monitoring solutions to both Local Authority and independent sector home care providers. Since inception, CM2000 has monitored in excess of 150 million calls and currently has over 50,000 care workers and 80,000 service users utilising the system.
As a key provider to a number of Category One and Two responders including Local Authorities and the NHS, CM2000 has a very real need to ensure that the services they provide are resilient. Not only do a number of vulnerable people depend upon the technology CM2000 provides but those organisations CM2000 serves need to be certain that the service will continue to be delivered, even in the face of adversity.
Whilst CM2000 operates in a niche market it was recognised at an early stage that achieving certification would provide them with a competitive advantage. It would also enable the company to quickly and confidently demonstrate proof of their continuity and resilience capability to both existing and potential customers.
Steelhenge was required to support the organisation’s internal project manager with the design and delivery of an end to end Business Continuity Management programme, acting as a trusted advisor. The project covered all aspects of the Business Continuity Lifecycle and not only involved establishing the BCM framework but also the supporting system. In addition, Steelhenge has provided CM2000 with training, guidance and assistance during preparation for the certification process itself. The aim was to maximise knowledge transfer in order to develop internal knowledge of the BC systems and processes within the company and this was achieved through a number of workshops.
The project reached a successful conclusion with certification being achieved in December 2010. Benefits include a number of tangible improvements to the company’s resilience arrangements. They have successfully removed all single points of failure and enhanced their technical facilities to ensure maximum redundancy. A number of tests and exercises have been undertaken, developing confidence throughout the organisation and embedding the system fully with staff. They have an ongoing maintenance and improvement programme in place which is vital for CM2000 as it grows and evolves.
