Crisis leadership workshop

Senior executives are seeking to build and develop their crisis leadership capabilities in the knowledge that leading in a crisis is very different to managing the day to day challenges of a business, yet the stakes are far higher.

We deliver C Level training, workshops and exercises to consider the issues senior managers will face and the options for delivering successful responses.  Recently, our team prepared and delivered a workshop for the Board of a leading plc, the requirement driven by their concerns having watched a number of major corporate responses fail at the executive level.  The format was derived following in-depth consultation with the client, gleaning an understanding of the key personalities, their ways of working, identifying areas that required discussion and how to ensure the issues came to the agenda naturally.

The workshop included a session to discuss recent case studies and review where the pitfalls lie in crisis leadership and strategic crisis management.  Our unique experience and knowledge allowed development of a fascinating journey through the challenges of crisis management at the most senior levels.  It also included some down to earth discussion around strengths and weaknesses of the team and the challenging of perceptions allowing the participants to better understand key aspects of others expectations and assumptions.

The second session was based around the practical application of crisis management theory against two scenarios developed specifically for the business.  The scenarios had been carefully chosen and developed to pose searching questions of the Board and ensure that important decisions and guidance were required and consideration had to be given to strategic planning, critical information management, key timings and communications.

Finally, the team fed back their views on their organisation’s plans, what additional support they would like to facilitate their strategic level response and the value of similar strategic level training and rehearsal to ensure their currency and continual development in the crisis leadership role.
