The skills and expertise of our permanent staff are augmented by a select and motivated group of associates when we require specialist knowledge. They deliver subject matter expertise in areas such as CBRN, counter-terrorism and IT.

 

David Austin

David Austin is a highly experienced Business Continuity, ICT Continuity and Crisis Management consultant and has specialised in these areas since 1993. Formerly head of Systems Continuity for the Royal Bank of Scotland, he then joined Insight Consulting, a subsidiary of Siemens Enterprise Communications, where he headed up their business continuity consultancy.  He has experience of working with central government and other public sector bodies as well as across many commercial sectors such as broadcasting, technology, retail and the financial services sector.

Johnny Aisbitt

Johnny is a specialist in strategic crisis management, emergency management and business continuity.  As a former member of the UK Central Government resilience organisation, he has extensive experience in the development and implementation of government resilience policy, planning and operational delivery.  In addition to operational delivery, Johnny is an experienced trainer, especially in the field of CBRN counter-terrorism, having previously been a course director for civil-military relations at the Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College, and the defence presenter at the Police National CBRN Centre and the Fire Services College.  Johnny is a member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI).

Ian Axton

Ian is an experienced broadcaster in radio and television and is currently the anchor for the Meridian Tonight South East programme.

Peter Barnes

Peter, a Fellow of the BCI, has over 16 years experience in the implementation of Business Continuity and Crisis Management on behalf of clients in the UK / Europe, Asia and North America.  His experience encompasses Banking (Central and Retail), Investment Management, Dealing Rooms, Insurance, Manufacturing, Business Services, Business Process Outsourcing (Call Centres), Leisure Industry, Government, NGO's and Charitable Trusts.  He is a published author and frequent contributor to the media.

Professor Edward Borodzicz

Edward is Professor of Risk and Crisis Management at Portsmouth Business Centre. He is also developing the new Centre for Risk, Crisis and Security Management at the University of Portsmouth as well as being a visiting Professor at Southampton and the Resilience Centre at Cranfield. He has worked extensively over the past 15 years with the emergency services, local and central government agencies and large businesses.

Louise Cadle

Louise is an experienced Emergency Planning Officer having been involved with Local Authority operations for 22 years. She is a representative on Resilience Fora at both local and regional level in the South East.

Annette Dawson

Annette is a leading water utilities expert, formerly Civil Contingencies Adviser to Severn Trent Water where she worked for over seventeen years. An incident management specialist with immense experience in operational situations, she is both a highly experienced planner and trainer within the corporate and public sectors. A lecturer at the Emergency Planning College, she is respected throughout the water industry emergency planning community.

Ian Fish

Formerly Head of Group Business Continuity and Crisis Management at NatWest Group, Ian has extensive experience as a consultant in risk and business continuity (particularly in the financial sector), security management, and in the management, security and privacy of information.

Richard Gordon

Richard Gordon is Director of Bournemouth University Disaster Management Centre. His work covers the full spectrum of disaster management consultancy and training including integrated planning, risk assessment, early warning, community based risk reduction, and communication and situational awareness.

Richard has delivered national and regional disaster management courses and workshops in the Middle East, Latin America, West Africa, South and East Asia, Eastern Europe and the United States. Specifically, he has provided specialist crisis communications consultancy to the oil industry in Nigeria.

Steve Grainger

Steve is a former Chief Superintendent, Metropolitan Police where he specialised in VIP Protection rising to the highest levels of responsibility leading the Protection Department.

David Groom

David was formerly the policy and process manager for emergency planning with BT plc, where he gained 25 years experience in all aspects of emergency response, crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery within a telecommunications environment. He has worked with BAPCO advising on issues surrounding emergency communications and is a specialist in network and product resilience, focussing on ensuring the protection of essential networks.

James Hardy

James is an intelligence and security expert with extensive experience of working with the UN and NGOs plus UK government on a variety of projects. These have included counter narcotics, organised crime, conflict prevention, post-war recovery and stability operations in Africa, the Balkans, Indonesia and Central Asia and South America.

Kathryn Holloway

Kathryn is a former news broadcaster and leading crisis communications consultant and media trainer. She works with the UK Cabinet Office’s Emergency Planning College, the British Army and a number of blue chip global corporations.

Gerry Jackson

Gerry assists Steelhenge as a trainer for its course ‘Supporting People after Traumatic Incidents'. He draws on many years experience of providing support for people following major disasters including rail disasters, aviation disasters, major road traffic accidents as well as other less serious traumatic incidents. His operational experience comes from a full career in the Metropolitan Police where he was involved with the disaster scenes at Lockerbie, Kegworth and the Marchioness Riverboat.

Roger Kenyon

Roger has extensive experience of the electricity supply industry with a career that has included positions in power stations, transmission operations, power system operations and R&D both in the UK and internationally. He has worked in senior positions for National Grid, National Grid USA and Grid America before becoming an independent consultant in 2004. His portfolio includes energy resilience projects.

Andrew Knights

Andrew has worked in various functions within the UK oil and gas environment. These include construction, project management, operations management, commercial and emergency response management. He has specialist knowledge on gas import arrangements especially in relation to Norway, LNG and in emergency response management in the event of national energy emergencies. He sits on the UK Government/Industry Gas Advisory Task Group and the Gas and Electricity Interactions Task Group (both reporting to the Energy Emergencies Executive Committee).

Angus McIlwraith

Angus is a seasoned risk management and information security specialist who has worked for a wide range of organisations including UK Government departments, the European Commission, the BBC and many blue chip companies. He has worked with clients preparing for formal certification against ISO27001.

John Reynolds

John is a resilience expert drawing on many years experience as a senior civil servant in the UK Government’s Department for Trade & Industry ((DTI) now Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform). Here he was Director Capabilities Programme, responsible for increasing the resilience of the critical national infrastructure, particularly energy and telecommunications, against hazards and terrorist threats.

David Steer

Dave is an operationally experienced risk analyst and security surveyor with wide ranging experience in risk analysis, intelligence, counter-intelligence, counter-sabotage, counter-terrorism and security. He has provided consultancy and training to organisations in the UK and internationally both in the private and public sectors.

Mike Thompson

Mike is a health preparedness specialist. Following a successful career in Government with various agencies where he developed a wide and deep knowledge of all aspects of Health Protection, he brings with him an invaluable experience in the health sector.

Alan Webb

Alan is a retired Chief Superintendent, Metropolitan Police, who has been at the cutting edge of international and multi-agency counter terrorist exercises, CBRN threat resolution and public order response. His authority is based on deep operational experience gained through many years and a variety of appointments within the Metropolitan Police.

Jonathan Wort

Jon is an experienced and respected trainer specialising in the development and delivery of training to meet the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. He assists Steelhenge with the delivery of a variety of courses. Much of his time is also spent delivering the range of courses at the Emergency Planning College in Easingwold.
